After you're done speaking with him, don't enter the Cathedral immediately. You can get quite a bit of information off of him. Speak with Jimson some more thereafter, and keep picking his brain about the various aspects of his cult, why they do what they do, and more. Either way, the beginning of this mission officially starts during the conversation with Jimson, when you get the Punga Power! perk.
